some shit just irritates me

there is a group, a clique if you will of writers (most of which have blogs) that seem to equate success with being too traditional or "selling out". as if getting a proper publishing house and being able to cut back your shifts at the coffee shop is some sort of artistic crime. "bestseller" or "book of the year finalist" being 4-letter words or some such crap. guess what folks, claiming your not like those wankers and then spending half your time writing about those wankers and their "lack of greatness due to success, formulae, narrative fiction, whatever" is pretty much simply... weak! it's akin to when i was in a p-rock band and knew many musician types who would constantly bad mouth those that sold records or drew big crowds while behind the scenes they did everything possible to figure out how to sell records and draw big crowds. there are generally two things that separate successful artists, writers, musicians from those that struggle...

• having an "insider" dig your work and spread the word to his/her peers
• talent or lack there of

so quit throwing fucking stones and pull up yer damned trousers you haters. "i don't wanna be in there stuffy club" yea well, your simply just in a different club... one that eats in much lesser fucking restaurants.

well I would have been here yesterday but i was stuck on the rooftop of a 23-story building downtown. ya see i went up there because

but i gathered my wits and then was afraid to come down. i contemplated some sort of  protest like "i won't come down until our defense is shored-up or we convert more chances or we increase the size of the side thus allowing fresh legs more often or any number of reasons". then i realized there's probably about 18 people in houston who could give a shit about my beloved arsenal and probably about half that number who could give a rat's ass if i live or die. so i slowly made my way home.

i have repeatedly told myself that it is foolish to allow myself to get so upset over sporting events. easier said than done brothers and sisters.

if would not (still) hurt so much if not for the fact that:

1. chelsea and their supporters are a bunch of c*nts!
2. we had not gone up 1 - nil
3. we had not looked so shaky at the back and on the wings
4. we had not looked so sluggish

things i have learned - am learning, of late:

• you will sleep better and feel better, both mentally and physically if you DON'T... consume 700 calories of sugary goodness before bed.
• my wife has a job that she is passionate about and that is consuming increasingly more of her time... it is DICK-LIKE of me to be anything other than pleased and supportive.
• a female is seeking the presidency.
• drunks, like myself, do NOT necessarily have problems ONLY with the craving for booze or drugs. we suffer psychologically from demons of yearnings of all sorts. i often have no desire for a drink, but would really feel better if i could lash-out at people and perhaps break shit! this too is DICK-LIKE and needs to be worked on.
• doing stupid shit (i.e. nothing, brooding, wallowing) IS NOT a better use of one's time than say taking a walk with ones family or hanging-out with ones kids.
• people are generally stupid and largely concerned with only themselves.
• folks cannot drive well and this is unlikely to change.
• obama barack is a man of color.
• his reverend is a colorful man.

arsenal has drawn liverpool in the champions league quarter-finals! as 4 of the final 8 are english sides it was likely we would get an all england tie. so april 1st or 2nd we play at the emirates and then visit anfield for the second leg a week or so later.

b. knowing that the (mis)quote would likely open the door for yoooose wiseacres out there i anticipated a comment regarding unicycles. you never let me down. yes, mr cox was nice enough to point out that a "bike with one wheel" is in fact commonly referred to as a unicycle. this is what i get for trying to surround myself with the supposed intelligentsia. weird thing is, when i myself realized there was something a bit off about the quote, and had my own "unicycle" moment... it was fucking dig cox's very visage that filled my mind's eye!

 

anyway... here is the proper quote... consider the gun loaded sir cox...
